Description

This study of all suicides by hanging in psychiatric facilities over a 6-year period from 1980-1985 concludes that such suicides are more than three times as likely to occur among psychiatric inpatients than in the general population. In releasing the findings of the study, the Commission urged greater attention to environmental safeguards and special suicide precautions at these facilities.
